This is a preview of the Double Eagle™ by L. E. Milholland. This aircraft is under construction now, with most of the major sub assembly complete. The fuselage was completed early this year. Tail covering have just been finished. The next project is to cover the wings. When the aircraft is complete, static and dynamic testing will be done to prove the design. Assuming that this process goes well, it is hoped that this prototype will be shown at Oshkosh in 2003. The design goal is to bring this aircraft dry weight in at under 450 lbs (airframe and engine) thus allowing for two large people, and a full 10 gallon fuel load under the 1000 lbs useful load.
"I would ask that builders considering the Double Eagle start with the engine, the design is simple, and unlikely to change in any massive way, whereas the airframe may undergo a number of changes prior to plans release. The Double Eagle uses a full VW engine, with modified cylinders producing a useful power of roughly 60 HP." Leonard Milholland.
